Spider Mechs of UC3K

The Principality of Near Earth Orbitals' original "armored trooper" war machines were the spider mechs so often used in the orbital colonies for construction and exploration. Being armored versions of the space-faring NBC shielded multi-purpose work-mechs, these machines served well in the initial days of the One Year war untill widespread use of the more versatile LandMate rendered them obselete. They can still be found here and there both on Earth and in the Colonies. Usually in civilian hands or in law enforcement. They are regarded as a quaint, retro machine by modern standards. Like a 1964 Chevy Impala was in the late 20th Century.

In size these units were often comparable to a compact car and mostly incapable of performing house-to-house sweep and clear missions. The LandMate proved a much better war-machine in that regard. Vastly superior as an insurgent and guerrila warfare device.
